Avenue Nightlife
Crystal Palace FC: are touring Sweden for their pre-season 2007 preparations, and "Eagles" supporters are invited too!! PlayHard Sports are the organisers and we have put together excellent packages for Crystal Palace supporters to follow your club and enjoy a great holiday at the same time. We have many years experience arranging tours for professional clubs and we specialise in putting together great “spectator packages” so that the true fans can enjoy a summer holiday in a wonderful destination, with the benefit of seeing their team in action during pre-season games.
This is an excellent opportunity for Palace fans to support the club by travelling to Sweden and see the team take on the local Gothenburg Canalsopposition.

Full Itinerary: your week is totally taken care of from start to finish, meaning that you can just sit back and relax knowing that the flights, hotel, transfers, match tickets, local guides, entertainment etc… are all under control and set out in your Itinerary for the duration of the holiday.

PlayHARD Sports Staff: will meet you on arrival at the airport and transfer you to your hotel by coach. They will arrange to meet you later to distribute match tickets and match details, as well as general information about things to do and places to visit during Gothenburg Centreyour stay. Our staff will be on hand during the week for general assistance.

Party Night: We will be holding an official "get-together" for supporters during the holiday, where some of the Palace players and staff will also attend. The evening will include a prize draw for memorabilia from the club; including a signed tour shirt, signed football, pennants etc…. !!

*This is a unique pre-season tour, where fans will be in close contact with the club during the week, travelling together and enjoying the experience of visiting a wonderful country and enjoying the football too!

The Squad
The Crystal Palace squad will be based in a hotel in Gothenburg City, and will be training hard throughout the week at a nearby ground.

The Matches
Fixtures – There will be 2 friendlies played during the tour, but due to the Swedish season not starting until April 2007 and their fixture list not being released until March 2007, the exact days of the games will not be finalised until then.

The fixtures during the tour for Palace could be against some of these professional clubs: IFK Goteborg, Gais & Orgryte FC (Gothenburg clubs), or Halmstadd , Varboorg etc... **These are subject to late changes after the fixture release date.

Gothenburg - the football

Sweden boasts great stadiums and facilities; the Ullevi stadium is used for some of the Swedish national team’s home games and it is memorable in the history of world football because in July 1958, it was there that PELE played his first ever World Cup match and scored his first World Cup goal, on the way to winning the World Cup for the first time for Brazil in the Final against Sweden in Stockholm.

Today the arched curves of the stadium still look as pleasing to the eye as they did then. The first football game in Scandinavia was played at The Heden in the city centre in 1878, where they have 8 state of the art all weather pitches now used for the world famous GOTHIA CUP, with 1400 competing teams. The stadium, the biggest in the country, has hosted the European and World Athletics championships, the World Cup and European Nations Cup and concerts featuring the Rolling Stones, U2 and more. IFK Goteborg 'The Blue Angels' are Sweden’s best-supported club, but other clubs in the town include, Orgryte GAIS and BK Hacken.

Gothenburg - the city

Gothenburg is a wonderful city with something for everyone who visits here. It is a cross between Amsterdam (with it's tram system and canals), Barcelona ("La Ramblas" street like the "Avenue" here) and Paris (with it's beautiful buildings and architecture).

There are many museums including the The Sports History Museum, The Volvo Museum, The Radio Musuem, The Flight Museum, The Maritime Museum, The Natural History Museum amongst others.

There are every kind of World Restaurants you can think of including: Italian, Spanish, Greek, Indian, Chinese, Indonesian, Latin American, French and of course Scandinavian food such as many varieties of fish, Swedish meat balls and the ever present hot dogs and mashed potatoes, not to mention McDonalds, Pizza parlours and other Fast Food chains. Surprisingly, eating out in Gothenburg is cheap compared to the UK.

The main street in Gothenburg is the "AVENYN" where you will find a buzzing atmosphere on an evening, with thousands of people enjoying the inside and outside of the many cafes, bars and clubs. There are some very lively Swedish Bars, a number of British and Irish Bars and other Bars and Nightclubs like the "Hard Rock" and "Diamond Dogs". With summer daylight lasting until after 11.00pm and everything staying open till the early hours, there is no shortage of entertainment during this holiday!!!

Gothenburg is one of Sweden's best holiday destinations. It is a big city of 550,000 inhabitants and 2nd only to the capital Stockholm in size. It boasts two international airports, the biggest port in the whole of Scandinavia and the biggest amusement park in Scandinavia - the "Liseberg" right in the town centre, which is a great day out for kids and "big kids" alike.

It has a spectacular waterfront Opera House, International Casino and a big indoor Aquarium, great for passing the time during the week. For the shoppers amongst you, there is also one of the biggest indoor shopping centres in Sweden here.

The Swedish people are very friendly and they all speak great English. They love English football and will talk all day with you about the beautiful game. Gothenburg is known in Sweden as the "Sports City" with more sports practised here than anywhere else in the country, including Football (of course), Ice-Hockey, Swimming, Horse Racing, Handball, Volleyball etc.. (the list goes on!!!).

*With a “Gothenburg Pass” you can get around the city and surrounding areas for free, travelling on the many trams, trains and buses. You can also get many discounted prices into museums and amusement parks amongst others.

Please visit: www.goteborg.com for further information about the city.
